There are many reasons training fails or succeeds. Consider these tips to help your participants learn more and better in your next workshop.
Spark Ideas. Introductions usually include name and role. Include a question or two on “Why are you interested in this topic? Or “How will you use this topic.” ROI – You learn about each person and the class begins to discover they share many commonalities.
Point the Way. Share a story or compelling fact about the subject. Personalizing the subject matter invites people to listen and apply to their own needs. ROI – Your role encourages the “best” from everyone and keeps people moving forward.
Buy-In. Want participation? Ask participants to share responses to questions in duos or triads to build confidence and trust. ROI – When people contribute, they feel their skills are utilized and appreciated.
A Word About Tools. People are curious and they love to find solutions or solve puzzles. That means you can use a variety of games, quizzes, puzzles, photos, postcards….almost anything that encourages learners to look beyond what they know. ROI – Challenges offer learning opportunities.
DiSC is a Tool! – The Everything DiSC Workplace profile teaches participants to understand themselves and others, while learning to appreciate the different priorities, preferences, and values each individual brings to the workplace. ROI – Improves communication, leadership, team building and more!
