At times, the daily grind of the job may slowly overshadow your true personality. If you want to lead with impact, you must be genuine. What does that entail? Your behavior must be consistent in both word and deed. You may not realize it, but people are counting on you and want you to succeed. Here are three easy “C’s” for greater success.
Confidence – Take time to weigh your decisions and include input from others in the process. Take time to ask questions or hold a mini-meeting to gather information. People want to be able to trust that you are hearing them and have their best interest at heart.
Collaborative – While people are responsible for their productivity, they may also have a block or two at times. Make yourself available to answer questions and help anyone who struggles in problem-solving. You are viewed as trustworthy and supportive simply by your willingness to help find solutions.
Compassion – There are times when the workplace can produce great amounts of stress. One simple way to reduce stress is to encourage people to have healthy conversations about what goes on in their lives outside the office. Research tells us that discussions about family, children and hobbies bring about a sense of bonding and stress levels decrease. Taking care of ourselves is important in all areas of life. A confident and collaborative leader models the way to be more successful in reducing stress for self and others.
