- By this I mean listen with your ears AND your heart. Be genuinely interested and hear what the other person is offering. Showing them that you honor their issue, viewpoint, or idea goes a long way to building trust in your working relationships.
- It takes very little effort to offer a kind or positive word, and yet this simple action can be what changes attitudes and beliefs – eventually even changing the end results. Encourage others to be successful and watch your own success increase!
- Bottom line…everyone wants to know that they matter. Show genuine concern by asking necessary, but unobtrusive questions, allowing others to engage and share with you. Talking honestly is helpful for relieving feelings of stress and overwhelm.
- Whatever the situation, maintain your respect for the person and what they are experiencing. Whenever possible, share your own lessons learned, but refrain from telling them “how to do it.” Making mistakes is a beneficial part of learning and making room for mistakes reduces the fear of failing.
- Follow Up. Always follow up and show a sincere interest in how things are going. Offer your support, not judgment. Keep your door and the lines of communication open to those who look to you for input.
Remember: You help others MOST when you’re able to help them truly focus on a goal. Lead them to that ONE attainable thing that they currently want or desire most in their life or business, so that they can realize the highest level of satisfaction for their efforts.
